Description
A beautifully landscaped urban park in the heart of Bangkok, Benchakitti has undergone a major expansion transforming it into one of the city's most impressive green spaces. The park now covers 72 rai (approximately 28 acres) of land that was formerly the Thailand Tobacco Monopoly.
The centerpiece of the expansion is the stunning Sky Walk — a 1.4 km elevated walkway that winds through a wetland forest canopy, connecting Benchakitti to neighboring Lumpini Park via a green corridor. Walking above the treetops with the Bangkok skyline in the background is a surreal experience.
The park features a large central lake (popular for watching the sunset reflect off surrounding skyscrapers), well-maintained running and cycling paths, extensive lawns for picnicking, a rain garden that naturally filters stormwater, and native plant gardens designed to attract butterflies and birds.
Free to enter 24 hours, though the Sky Walk section closes at 10 PM. The park gets busy with joggers early morning and after 5 PM. Nearest MRT: Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre. Bike rentals available near the main entrance.
